Here’s a vintage inspired wedding board with a teal blue and green color palette. Such a fun and fresh color combination for a Spring or Summer wedding that also gives a bit of a modern feel to the event.
Hope our readers in the U.S. are enjoying the 2010 4th of July festivities and indulging yourselves in all the wonderful treats and fireworks displays happening this weekend. Here’s my inspiration for a 4th of July Wedding in the countryside, full of patriotic details and vintage little wonders. Happy Independence Day everyone! Enjoy!
Thinking of having an outdoor garden wedding? If you or someone you know has a beautiful garden that will accommodate your guest list, why not have your special wedding in a garden setting? This is the perfect environment for a smaller, more intimate event during the spring or summer months. Here’s my interpretation of a sweet and romantic garden wedding with vintage details, rustic furniture pieces, and pretty bridal and bridesmaids’ gowns. Surround yourself with colorful flowers and nature itself…what more can you ask for? Home weddings have such character and personality; I love them!
Today I want to share myĀ vision for a colorful and folkloricĀ Frida Kahlo wedding theme. Kahlo’s style was very dramatic and inspired by the indigenous Mexican culture. The bright colors and traditional Mexican details set the tone for a fabulous Frida Kahlo wedding. Don’t be afraid to make a statementĀ with your reception decor and yourself. Use bold accessories such as flowers on your hair, along with Mexican silver jewelry. Adorn the wedding location withĀ festive Mexican decorations like papel picado, bright paper crepe flowers, and colorful votive candles. I loveĀ how unique and artisticĀ a Frida theme can be. Enjoy!
Today’s inspiration board isĀ based on an eco-friendly wedding with home baked goods and fresh farm-to-table elements. A green wedding doesn’t have to be super expensive; consider some of these inexpensive tips:
- Use vintage, borrowed or flea market finds and give them new life by repurposing them for your wedding day. Items such as patterned mismatched plates, silverware and glassware can be borrowed from friends and family to collect enough for your wedding day.
- Find a venue that allows you to do both the ceremony and reception at the same place so that you and your guests don’t have to commute.
- Use vendors near your wedding locationĀ andĀ get fresh local produce and flowers from the local farmer’s market.
- Collect mason jars or bottles to use as flower vases for your tables’ centerpieces.
- Use a wedding website to eliminate paper invitation inserts.
- Have a friend or family member help you make some baked goods such as cookies or mini cakes for a dessert table.
- Give something edible or plantable (such as seedlings) as your wedding favors. Guest will love them more than little trinkets that end up collecting dust or in the garbage, and they’re more eco-friendly.
Today’s inspiration is a springtime Easter Wedding, as this weekend many of us will be celebrating Easter on Sunday. The color scheme is a softer palette–with pastel pinks, blues andĀ yellows–whileĀ addingĀ a pop of lovely turquoise.Ā There are so many possibilities when decorating your special event for an Easter theme; you canĀ decorate tree branchesĀ by hanging Easter eggs, orĀ fill mixed colorfulĀ jarsĀ orĀ mini flower vases withĀ wildflowers and blossoms. You can also decorate your reception chairs by adding a selection of colorful ribbons tiedĀ to the back and letting them hang downĀ for a wonderful whimsical feel.Ā ColorfulĀ vintage-inspired glassware with intricate design detailsĀ are perfect for a springĀ or Easter event, and add so much charm to any table setting.Ā Happy Easter Everyone!
Today’s inspiration board is a rustic St. Patrick’s Day engagement party, partly inspired by the movie Leap Year. Green and chocolate brown tones dominate a veryĀ festive backyardĀ party. A great excuse for helping yourself to a pint ofĀ stout or Guinness, and to enjoyĀ some Irish coffee with chocolate Guinness cakeĀ or cupcakes for dessert. Play a game of lucky horseshoes with friends, a perfect outdoor activity for a St. Patrick’s Day-themed backyard engagement party. Include a fun photo booth setup and display St. Patrick’s Day props for some great guest photos. Enjoy!
Today’s board is for an Alice in Wonderland Vintage Wedding,Ā inspired by Tim Burton’s version of the Alice character.Ā Using muted colors with antique,Ā vintage details will give a very whimsical, fairytale-like feel to your event.
Don’t forget the “Drink Me” andĀ ”Eat Me” labels throughout your beverages and sweets for that signature Alice theme.
Looking forward to catching the movie this weekend. Can’t wait!
Tim Burton’s upcoming movieĀ Alice in Wonderland opens tomorrow, and yesterday I shared my take on an Alice in Wonderland wedding theme inspired by the “Red Queen”. Along the same quirky and fun line, here’s one for a colorful Mad Hatter Bridal Tea Party. I’m looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter; he always does such a great job playing the crazy characters.
Imagine an afternoon bridal shower in a beautiful garden with all your girlfriends. Vintage teacups with plates for drinking tea and eating tea sandwiches and yummy desserts. Have colorful glassware for fresh lemonade or a signature cocktail as well besides the tea. Floral arrangements on teapots are a great way to decorate a long rectangular table for a tea party theme. I love the look of having old, unmatched chairs with or without cushions for the seating arrangements. Ask your girlfriends to wear a colorful dress so that everyone is part of the theme. And don’t forget a game of croquet with your girlfriends as part of the fun bridal shower activities.
